Yesterday I went to Hope D. Wall school in Aurora which is a special education school.  I wanted to see some of the "magic" that goes on inside the building.  And I wanted to see one of my favorite cousins, Janet.  As my family knows, I am mainly a smart ass and sometimes it is very hard to be serious.  Complement coming...Janet has helped me out so much for this trip.  I got so many things to take down including an extra sewing machine and 2 pair of Liz's braces when she was little.  Money! A little pep talk to boot.  I'm sure she'd go if there were Bahama Mama's served by some hot guy by a pool.  Unfortunately there will be none of that.

Now, this isn't going to be rocket science down there.  Mad science is more like it.  The OT at Hope, Odella does live up to her McGyver name.  I was able to fashion all sorts of adaptive tools to take down.  If I would have had to purchase these from a company, it would have been way too much and at some point, I'm sure I'd hit my credit card limit.  (Disclaimer:  I have never hit my credit limit.  I'd be in big trouble if I did, but it'd sure be fun doing it)

The nice guy at Home Depot found all the supplies I needed and from an outsiders view, it probably either looked like I was making a home brew kit or a meth lab.  After I eagerly told him what I as making, he thought that was pretty neat.  I did find out they don't just leave the paint stirrers out anymore.  I was think damn, now what?  I was going to pilfer me a big ol' handful.  But H.D. was kind enough to part with about 40.   Of course the control freak looking guy had to count out each and every one.  I would have been like just give me two handfuls and I'll be good to go.   I didn't want to look too greedy.  I am going to use them.  They are going into a hand towel with columns and you put the stirrers in between and Velcro them around whatever body part needs to be stretched.  $2 plus however long it takes me to perfect it.  I'm sure they would have been every expensive to buy out right.

I bought some tubing for straws.  It's kind of exciting.  Who would have thought?  I did think one night of that movie "The Jerk" when Steve Martin made those glasses with the little handle and then everyone went cross eyed and he got sued and lost everything.  I keep thinking that with all these handcrafted tools of the trade, I could screw someone up.  I only ponder on it for a minute because, I don't think it could screw them up anymore than Haiti already is.

Since this is my first official blog, I don't know the blog etiquette of how long a blog is supposed to be.  Fortunately for me, my mind is like a well oiled (sometime too oiled) machine.  I have so much information in my head.  Half the time I can't do much else as most of my family can attest, have no concentration and any conversation that lasts over 10 seconds, I'm done.  It's like "oh look, butterflies!"  And for those blog viewers that don't even know me, by the time I finish this trip, you'll be thinking, "Whoa, she's out there".  Really I'm not, it's just a lefty thing.

Ok, enough for today.  Time to go back some more supplies.
